Title: "Characterizing information needs for public health continuity of operations: A scenario-based design approach"
Abstract: The threat of epidemics such as the one represented by the H1N1 influenza virus has created a sense of urgency for public health emergency preparedness and continuity of operations planning is a necessary part of any emergency management strategy. However, the information needs of public health practitioners necessary to maintain continuity of operations during emergencies are largely undocumented and unsupported by technology. The aims of this research are to assess the information needs of public health practitioners to maintain continuity of operations, propose an information system design that addresses those specific needs and validate the proposed system design within Public Health - Seattle & King County and the Spokane Regional Health District. |
